URL Encoder and Decoder

Encode or decode URL components and full URLs, including form-style spaces.

URL Encoder and Decoder
Encode or decode URL components and full URLs and see the result instantly.

Component mode encodes separators such as / ? & =; use it for one query parameter value.

Conversion stays in your browser and does not send the input anywhere. This tool does not check whether a URL exists.

Practical guide

Use the browser’s native encodeURIComponent/decodeURIComponent or encodeURI/decodeURI to transform URL components or complete URLs. Results update as you type.

How to use it

  1. Choose URL component or Full URL and enter content.
  2. Choose Encode or Decode. For form-encoded parameters, optionally treat + as a space.
  3. Copy the result or use it as input for the reverse operation.

Example

Component mode turns “hello & ok” into “hello%20%26%20ok”. Full URL mode preserves https:// and structural ? and & separators.

What to know

Full URL mode preserves structural separators and should not be used to place an entire URL inside one parameter value. Malformed percent escapes or invalid UTF-8 cause an error. Plus-to-space applies only to component decoding. The tool never visits or validates the URL.

Common question

Why did + stay as + when decoding?

Standard decodeURIComponent does not treat + as a space. Form encoding does; enable the plus-to-space option in component decoding mode.
