Practical guide
Call IPv4-only and IPv6-only endpoints from this browser to read public exit addresses. Look up approximate location, ASN and network organization for each address, with Cloudflare trace as an extra reference.
How to use it
- Start the check and wait for IPv4, IPv6 and the Cloudflare reference.
- Review each address, country, region, city and organization; copy an address if needed.
- If one address cannot be obtained, check your network settings and run the check again.
Example
A dual-stack network may show both IPv4 and IPv6. An IPv4-only network may not reach the IPv6-only endpoint. A proxy or split route can also give different sites different exits.
What to know
A public IP is the address seen by the check service for this request, not your device’s local network address. A failed IPv6 request does not prove IPv6 is unavailable. IP geolocation is approximate; the free ipwho.is service has a quota, so the IP can still appear when location lookup fails.
Common question
Why do IPv4 and IPv6 have different locations?
The protocols may take different network paths or use addresses from different providers. Geolocation databases can also be inaccurate, so compare the network owner if needed.
