Practical guide
Find a starting palette from a reference image. The tool samples pixels, groups similar colors and shows the eight most frequent groups. It is useful for an initial design direction rather than exact color measurement.
How to use it
- Choose an image with the colors you want to explore.
- Select Extract colors and wait for the swatches.
- Click a swatch to copy its hexadecimal value into CSS or a design app.
Example
For an event page, sample a poster, then use one of the darker colors for text and a lighter one for a background.
What to know
Colors are quantized into approximate groups, not sampled from a specific pixel. Large backgrounds, lighting and transparent regions can dominate the ranking.
Common question
Why does a swatch differ from a pixel I can see?
The tool reports common color ranges across the image, rather than the color at a chosen coordinate.
